The Haus der Geschichte der Bundesrepublik Deutschland documents what Germany and its population have lived through since the Second World War. Fascinating exhibits, original documents by contemporary witnesses, authentic audio recordings from the GDR and a historical atmosphere await you in this extraordinary museum. The years between the construction of the Berlin Wall and the reunification of East and West Germany are particularly popular with visitors.
A notable highlight is the cartoon and caricature gallery. More than 75,000 drawings portray political and social circumstances in a satirical and humorous manner.
The Haus der Geschichte is located in the immediate vicinity of the Bonn World Conference Center and close to the former government district. This venerable building is part of the Museumsmeile (museum mile), an ensemble of five museums on the Bundestrasse 9. Admission is free of charge.
